Project: Energy efficient, low GWP chiller upgrade
Location: 14 Martin Place Sydney
Builder: Precise Air with Fujitsu
Client: Abacus Group
Date: 2024
Services: Eco efficient solutions, System Upgrade
Our relationship with Abacus Group started with a couple of buildings in Sydney. We quickly recognised there was an opportunity to truly partner with them across their portfolio using HVAC as a driver to help guide them on their sustainability journey.
Our optimisation team worked closely with their ESG and sustainability engineers to understand their net-zero journey. As a result we installed the latest AIRSTAGE chiller from Fujitsu General Australia at 14 Martin Place for Abacus Group.
Managed by Precise Air’s Construction team, the operation required a team of riggers to remove the external louvre to the level 9 plant room and carefully manoeuvre the multi-ton unit into a narrow opening between high-rise buildings.
Moving it into the plant room was like threading a needle. The skill shown by the riggers from SP Rigging and the Borger Cranes operator made the whole process look effortless.
Safety was our top priority, so we meticulously planned every step and followed stringent safety precautions for this high-risk operation. Even with Sydney’s unpredictable weather, we were blessed with clear skies during the four-hour window for the crane lift.
Our collaborative contracting approach with Abacus signifies a shift towards sustainability-driven outcomes in asset management. Abacus have the critical building blocks in place to continue to lift performance across their portfolio.
AIRSTAGE chillers use Danfoss TurboCor compressors and the HFO refrigerant R513a that has a Global Warming Potential of 573, which achieves a reduction of 56% compared to commonly used refrigerant R134a
Precise Air and Abacus have formed a collaborative partnership that spans across operational and sustainability teams.
