ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF COUNTRY

Precise Air Group acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and gather.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise their continued care and contribution to Country.

OUR COMMITMENT TO FOSTERING RICH RELATIONSHIPS

At Precise Air Group, we are increasingly aware of our responsibilities and the impact of our decisions in creating opportunities for reconciliation within the communities in which we operate.

Since 2016 we have implemented a number of initiatives that support targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, education and business. These include:

  • targeted cadetships and apprenticeships through Precise Air Aboriginal Pathways (PAAP) program in collaboration with TAFE NSW’s Aboriginal Education and Engagement team and the AES
  • continuing our partnership as Supporting Partners of Bond University’s Indigenous Education Programme
  • Supply Nation membership.

Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reflects our commitment and approach to reconciliation.

We recognise that respect is the foundation of reconciliation, and thus requires an understanding and acceptance of shared histories, diversity of ideas and approaches, and cultures.

By developing this RAP, as an integral component of our broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, we will formalise and focus how we engage with, and support, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and businesses to truly embed initiatives throughout the organisation.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE THE IMPORTANCE OF RECONCILIATION

THE PRECISE AIR ABORIGINAL PATHWAYS PROGRAMME (PAAP)

Working towards Closing the Gap in education and employment

A collaboration between Precise Air Group, TAFE NSW and AES (Aboriginal Employment Strategy)

The PAAP is an education, employment and mentoring programme primarily designed to contribute to Closing the Gap initiatives by providing real educational and employment opportunities in the HVAC industry across NSW (and nationally in future).

The PAAP is a unique collaboration developed over 9 months that brings together:
• Industry – Precise Air Group
• Education – TAFE NSW’s Aboriginal Education and Engagement team and the NSW TAFE Career Pathways, Education and Aboriginal Languages (CPALES) team; and
• Employment agencies – Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES).

Our purpose was to:
• increase awareness of the HVAC industry through promotional activities
• address current and future skills shortages in HVAC
• increase HVAC apprenticeship completion rates via intensive, culturally appropriate learning support and ongoing mentoring
• provide work readiness skills, training and HVAC apprenticeships for Aboriginal people.

This is more than just a work readiness programme.

What sets this apart is the breadth and depth of employment opportunities for Aboriginal apprenticeships in HVAC. As a result of this project, Precise Air has employed a Contract Administrator in our National Accounts team, 4 HVAC apprentices in metro and regional locations and a Business Administration cadet.

It combines apprenticeships and employment opportunities with Precise, with ongoing mentoring, learning and cultural support throughout their apprenticeships.

The PAAP will increase the number of HVAC apprentices in Precise Air to 38, and raise the percentage of employees who are Aboriginal from 2 to 8, which as a percentage more closely reflects community representation.

SUPPLY NATION MEMBERS

Precise Air are members of Supply Nation.

Supply Nation’s mission is to facilitate, encourage and promote business between corporate Australia and Government agencies and Indigenous owned businesses.

Membership provides us with a roadmap for strengthening our commitment to supplier diversity and aligns with initiatives that we have developed over the past five years.

Supply Nation connects its membership to Indigenous suppliers to build a vibrant and prosperous Indigenous business sector by incorporating Indigenous owned businesses into the supply chain of Australian companies and government agencies.

Supply Nation Chief Executive Officer, Ms Laura Berry, said “We are delighted to welcome Precise Air Group into the Supply Nation community and look forward to working with them to develop their supplier diversity footprint. The measure of our collective success will be in the value of transactions between Precise Air Group and Indigenous businesses”.
