Meet Daniel Foster, our new General Manager for NSW and ACT.
It’s always interesting to hear a new employee’s perspective about your company, particularly when they have a wealth of experience that spans a range of industries like Daniel has.
We asked Daniel for his thoughts about the industry and his first impressions of Precise Air Group.
Daniel, you’ve worked for some of Australia’s largest HVAC, fire, security and facility services companies. What do you think are the challenges for service companies today?
Obviously COVID is presenting a lot of challenges for a service business, particularly around access and lockdown rules. Being close to your customers is really important in times like these so that you can work together to make sure that their services continue to comply with standards. For example, while we are classified as an essential service, it might be difficult for our technicians to gain access to a site that has been closed down during lockdown.
What do you think Precise Air can offer that differs from the rest?
I think Precise Air’s potential lies in three really important areas that all concern how they respond to the changing needs of the market. Firstly, the Group is really nimble – they have a flexibility that means that they can respond to customers quickly with services that aren’t always in scope.
Secondly, they have a national footprint that is continuing to grow into the regions. Many of the larger national customers are wanting to simplify their procurement models and are moving to single source providers, so having a national presence on the ground is really important.
And thirdly, they don’t shy away from adapting to changing customer needs – offering bundled services is one example.
Leadership and culture are very important to you. How do you make sure you bring everyone along with you?
Communication plays a big part in employee engagement and the type of culture you create in a team – making sure that everyone knows who you are and what you represent. You can’t bring a team along with you if they don’t know where you are heading. I might have to stick with zoom toolbox talks and town halls for a while yet, but I am really looking forward to catching up with everyone in person over a BBQ as soon as we can.
Welcome to the team Daniel!
